About
What is Our Swim Team?
It is a relaxed, entertaining way for kids of our neighborhood to connect, get exercise, and most importantly, have fun over the early weeks of summer. Our team is only open to Heritage Greens residents and provides both children and parents an opportunity to meet other people in our neighborhood, which in turn helps make the Heritage Greens community a better place to live. Practices will be offered 5 days a week, but we understand that not every swimmer will want to practice every day, which is completely ok. We do not have practice attendance requirements. While our swim team is not meant for those needing very beginner swim lessons, your child does not need to be a rock star swimmer to join. We are a team where personal bests are greatly celebrated!
Typically, kids as young as 4-5 years old can join, as long as they have already mastered some beginner swim skills; such as, holding their breath under water, understands water safety, are able to doggy-paddle a few feet, etc. To review a complete list of requirements, please see the "Evaluations" page listed under the "Parent Resources" tab. While we wish we could have everyone, children without these basic skills pose serious safety concerns. As such, they just won't be ready to join the swim team quite yet. However, our coaches are available to give private swim lessons over the summer and would love to teach these future Gators one-on-one or in small group lessons.
Older kids, with or without a lot of swim experience, are also highly encouraged to join! While we swim laps almost daily, there will also be a Pep Rally, parties, game days and lots of other fun activities. Being a Gator is more than just being on a swim team, it's being part of the Gator family. We hope all the neighborhood kids and teens want to join!
We are currently updating our website, but it will soon have all sorts of information, including a parent guide, a schedule and much more. Additionally, please feel free to reach out to the Parent Reps, if you have any further questions or concerns.
* Please note that every swim family will have a volunteer commitment, which is required to be part of the team. Additionally, parents/caregivers of swimmers 8 years old and younger, must remain in the pool area during practices to watch their children, as lifeguards aren't present.
